Artist's Comments

Second attempt at a combination of two of my interests, anthropomorphism and Star trek (engineering).

Set in the Enterprise 1701-D's main engineering room.

The room was not drawn by myself, it was originally drawn by a proper set designer working on the sets for "The Next Generation" I have merely edited in more lines so it was easier to fill with color on the computer.

I also added the consoles and displays through the entrance to the right.

One difficulty was working to duplicate the grey rings along the red tubes (nearest the viewer) properly.

Working on converting the tiny person with the tri-corder to an anthro deer (like my character) involved a lot of pixel art. ><

This is awesome, I love the look of a concept piece. Great work :]

Nice drawing, there should be an anthro sci fi series.. anyway, The core was for storing antimatter right?, but what do those red tubes do?
:iconfallowbuck:
I agree, and thank you for the comment :)

The core is used to mix the matter/antimatter in a controlled fashion. while the antimatter was stored separately in magnetic containment.

--Explanation--

Upper Blue (neons) "magnetic constrictor coils" channel and align matter from the matter injectors at the top of the core.

Lower blue (neons) "magnetic constrictor coils" channel and align the Antimatter from the antimatter injectors below.

The rounded middle is the "reaction chamber" which houses the dilithium crystals; which regulate the reaction produced by the matter/antimatter colliding.

All this is mixed with "electro plasma" which carries the energy produced by the reaction through the (red tubes) "Plasma transfer conduits" to each "nacelle" (engine) of the starship.

Phew, sorry if I went on a bit there :blushes:

0.0 yeah, it's all clearer now.... ?

Great job!

They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done. Picard-Star Trek: First Contact
